The veggie H here is awesome! I've had it before but always end up adding mushrooms or onions but I know now that those ruin it. A regular veggie H with cheese is up there with some of the top veggie burgers in the city. The fries are fresh cut and super tasty and of course, the fry sauce is amazing! I also had their salad which isn't anything mind-blowing but it had beets in it and I think I'm a fan of beets in salad. I think this will be in my standard rotation of veggie burgers from now on. It's awesome that this place has veggie burger options, I think more places should take a page from their book. Give them a try, even if you eat meat!

One of the BEST burger joints in town. BIG H COMBO. Been going to Hires for 50+ years.

The first time we've been to this Hires Big H, and were disappointed compared to experiences at the others. Restaurant was very dirty, and the service was extremely inattentive when we first arrived. Usually you can count on the root beer mugs being frosty (they weren't), the burgers really hot and fresh (semi-warm with stale buns) and the fries are very fresh (cheese wasn't even completely melted). We talked-up Hires to a family member, and were a little embarrassed.

Nostalgia. And the burger and fries and fry sauce as delicious as I remember. And love the root beer in frosted mugs!

I truly do not understand the name of this place, but I suppose it doesn't matter too much. This is another local place that I waited a long, long time to try and it was to my folly, of course. They do a pretty mean little burger. The fries I can do without, but the burger was quite good, juicy, flavorful, perfectly cooked, more or less everything I look for in a burger. It probably wasn't quite to gourmet level, but still quite tasty. We had the place to ourselves, so the service was quite top notch and I thought the decor was somewhat intriguing. The place is very caught up in their own history and good for them there, I suppose, but it does add an interesting element while you're waiting for the food. The only problem here I really see is trying to get to one regularly, since most of them are placed in close proximity to places I'd generally rather not go. Still, after having eaten there, I can see why there's some traction to calling this a Utah legend.

Only marginally good. Burger was small and insignificant in the bun. They cut too many corners. Not impressed. Too many good burgers out there to put up with a bad one. I will not come back. To bad since they have been around so long.

Last time I was in SLC I couldn't wait to get a Country H from Hires and suddenly I remembered that it was sunday and they are CLOSED! ='( I love the Fry sauce too!!

The food is adequate but over-priced. If you are going here avoid the drive through, the last two or three times I've been have been through the drive through. It takes forever and my order has had a mistake in it each time.

Great burgers! Overpriced and you may leave feeling a little hungry. But the taste and quality are excellent.

Delicious pizza and the best garlic bread around! The servers are incredibly friendly too. It's also the only place near my house that I know of to get a veggie burger. :)

Services was great. Waitress was attentive, drinks didn't get to low. Food was served fast, and good as always.

We went in right as they were opening, so they were a little flustered when they started helping us. The food was good and the service was good too.

Maybe my expectations weren't realistic, but I found the food average. We were staying at a hotel nearby and got our order through the drive through and it took a little over 20 minutes (ordered two hamburgers, chicken strips and chili fries) and I was the first customer in line. They asked me to pull forward and I am thinking they may have forgotten about me, hence the delay. Oh well, the food was incredibly average. The fry sauce was pretty good and the chili cheese fries were oddly good. The service was mediocre - the girl at the first window was upset when I asked to see a menu again and was quick to tell me that everything was posted at the other window (I had never been there before), though the second girl was friendly. As an aside, the map that populates from Yelp doesn't provide accurate directions (or at least it didn't a few weeks ago), though the street address is correct.
